When you make goat milk soap, the bars have to go through a process of saponification. They have to cure for 5-6 weeks before use. I have been making soap at home and trying a few different combinations of essential oils. Therefore I have several curing batches of soap at home. I read about making liquid soap and saw that you use an uncured bar to create it. Of course, I tried it and it worked.

I chopped up one of my lavender and tea tree oil bars of soap. I placed it in a small saucepan with 3 cups of water. I slowly heated the pan while stirring until the soap melted. Then I added 4 tablespoons of glycerin and 1/2 tsp of grapefruit seed extract. Then I poured it into a glass soap dispenser.

I was surprised at how much soap I made. One bar made about 36 ounces of liquid soap. It filled up my pretty glass container and then I had to use an old liquid soap bottle that we had just finished using. I did not have to add an more essential oils because the lavender oil already in the bar soap was enough. The soap smells fresh and clean.

I am very excited because I have not been able to trust even the all-natural and pure liquid soaps on the market. If they list their ingredients then you will see sodium laurel sulfate. However, most soaps do not even list their ingredients. I prefer using liquid soap at the kitchen sink. Now I have a good homemade soap alternative.

The liquid soap is more thick than store-bought soap, maybe I need to add a little more water. I will keep experimenting. As you rub it into your hands a gentle lather builds and your skin feels silky. It rinses off well and leaves your hands with a soft scent of lavender. I really like the soap. I am so happy that it is possible to make homemade liquid goat milk soap.
