Alternative to Perfume
I may have a soft spot for chocolate, but when it comes to scents that I like vanilla wins by a landslide. I never have been a heavy perfume wearer.
I remember one time when I was in 9th grade. I got dressed to go to my mom’s one woman art show at a fancy gallery in Houston. I was all dressed up and decided to dab a little Eternity by Calvin Klein on myself. I forgot that the bottle had a corked lid. It did not have anything to slow the down the flow of the cologne. The bottle got knocked over. Before I could react, it spilled all over my black skirt!
Well I never did dab the stuff on my wrists or neck. I was already wearing enough! I also did not have time to change my clothes. We were running late. I hoped that on the drive over to the gallery most of the smell would evaporate. I am not really sure how much evaporated. All I know is that the scent was very strong.
Since that day, I have worn very little perfume. I used to like scented lotions and body sprays before I found out that Jake reacted adversely to chemicals and powerful scents. Therefore, I have gone for over a year without wearing any perfumes, colognes, etc. That is until I found all-natural alternatives to traditional perfumes.
Beeyoutiful carries two different kinds of all-natural perfumes. Liquid Sunshine and Vanilla Dream Perfume are the kind that they currently sell. My husband ordered the latter for me months ago. Besides the fact that Andrew broke the bottle shortly after I received it, I liked the perfume. It smelled a little like baby shampoo with vanilla undertones. If I had created it, I would have put in more vanilla. Don’t get me wrong, it is still a good product. For either choice, you roll the scent onto your wrists.
The other day I was walking through Village Foods, a grocery store in Bryan, Texas with the best variety of gluten-free products. When I saw all of their bottles of essential oils sitting on a shelf on a nearby aisle. Of course, I had to go check them out.
They have testers of each essential oil so you can smell them before purchasing the oil. After about 10 minutes of smelling each essential oil, I decided to buy one.
The brand I purchased is AuraCacia. Of course, I picked Vanilla. It smells so good! The vanilla is already blended with jojoba oil so it is ready to use straight from the bottle.
I turn the bottle upside down over the inside of my wrist. One drop eventually falls out. I rub my wrists together and dab a tiny bit on my neck. Then I breathe in deeply and smile.
It is 1/2 an ounce bottle. At this rate of use, this bottle will probably last at least one year if not two. Of course that estimate is only good provided that nobody breaks it. The glass does appear to be thick and strong.
Some people have allergic reactions to essential oils. Always test a small spot on your skin to make sure that you have no reaction. If you do, discontinue using the product.
For under $20.00, you have several alternatives to wearing perfumes, colognes, or body sprays. Good quality perfumes are much more expensive; it is worth the investment to try an alternative. Also, you can search AuraCacia to see what other scents they recommend as perfumes.

Hello Lara! I have begun having negative reactions to my usual perfumes (skin irritations, headaches, etc). After reading this article, I ordered some Vanilla Dream from Beeyoutiful. I received it yesterday and could not wait to give it a try. The scent even received my hubby’s stamp of approval
I am enjoying the scent and am surprised at how long the fragrance lingers.
Thank you so much for this article!

Great, Danielle! I am glad that you and your husband approve. Beeyoutiful has great products. I can hardly stand going through a department store anymore because of all the perfumes at th entrance. I try to hold my breath and get through as quickly as possible. I am also thankful that I no longer teach at the secondary level in public school. Boys especially like to bathe in cologne.
