4-H Photography Contest
One of my favorite Beatles’ songs is “Here Come the Sun.” My prayers have been answered and the sun is here! Yesterday it shone down brilliantly. Today as I look out my window the white ground is sparkling in the sunlight. The heavy frost is covering everything. The temperature is in the high 20s. And, I am ecstatic! I am going to find a windbreak to stand behind so I can soak in the sunlight without being blown away by the wind.
My oldest three children always participate in the 4-H Photography Contest at the county and district levels. This year Clayton decided not to enter any photographs. Therefore, Kyla and Jake are representing the DeHaven family. Jake is most excited as this is his first year as an official 4-H member. In previous years, he has been a Clover Kid.
Both Kyla and Jake are entering five photographs a piece. The different divisions are: people, animal, still life, natural landscape, architectural elements, and plant/flora. You can also enter a special effect and/or theme division. The theme this year is the four seasons. There are two categories per division. You can enter a color print or black and white.
I thought I would show you some of their best entries this year.
I hope that you enjoyed viewing three of their five photographs. I think that they have a promising talent in photography, but I am quite biased. They take a lot of the photographs that I need for this blog. It is a creative way for them to express themselves. Photography helps them to be very observant. It helps them to also see the beauty in the most simple things.
We will find out soon how the judges felt about them. I wish both Jake and Kyla, “Good luck!”

Good Luck Kyla and Jake!!! I have no doubt that you will once again make the DeHaven family proud — not to mention WIN!!! Love you all.
They are very nice. Thanks for sharing, Good Luck to them both.
