Shark Steam Mop

My beautiful, clean floor.
Once we laid all the tile in my bedroom, bathroom, living room, and dining room, I started looking for the best way to clean the floor. I wanted to find something that was easy to use. I wanted it to do a great job. I preferred to not use household chemical cleaners. I did a little research online, but was indecisive about the different products.
Then one day I was walking down the aisle of a local Wal-Mart. I found myself on the vacuum aisle and something caught my eye. It was a steam mop by Shark. It was on sale! After carefully reading the box, I called my husband. He encouraged me to take advantage of the sale and try this mop.
When I got it home, I wanted to immediately try it out. The mop is very light. It weighs about three pounds. There are no switches or buttons. It is very easy to use; you just plug in the electrical cord. It has a reservoir for water. Since I have hard water, I chose to use distilled water, but you can use water from the tap. You use NO chemicals.
The machine came with two microfiber cloth pads. They velcro onto the bottom of the machine. The water in the reservoir heats up. The motion of pushing the machine across the floor causes steam to leave the machine through the cloth pad. Because steam is hot, it kills germs as it loosens dirt and/or stains. The pad picks these up as you continue cleaning the floor.
As the steam hits the tile, a little condensation occurs. It dries very quickly. Since there are no chemicals or water sloshing all over the floor, one can enter the room without leaving footprints or slipping. This is one of my favorite things about the steam mop. With seven of us in the family, it is hard to keep everyone out of a room until the floor is dry.
My only complaint about the mop is that it only came with two microfiber cloth pads. Even with them constantly being washed there are times when I wish I had more. The stores in my area do not sell the microfiber pads, but I can order some from Shark.
I really like this mop. It does a great job. My floors looked beautiful and clean without streaks or residues. At three pounds, the mop was very light; however, I wish they were built stronger and with less plastic. We were having a cleaning contest and my daughter was mad because she was running out of time. In her haste, she was too rough with the machine and it broke in two. There is no way to fix it. Needless to say, I was upset, but if I ever found it on sale again, I would not think twice about purchasing it.
