Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
We finally finished laying and grouting the tile in my dining and living rooms. It was back-breaking work. I wonder how long until our backs and knees stop aching. The thin-set and grout have done a number on my hands, too. I am so glad this part of the project is over. Now we can stand back and admire our hard work. It looks great if I do say myself.
Having a fresh, brand-new floor makes you look at the walls and baseboards surrounding it. I mentioned to my husband that we needed to repaint the white walls, trim, and baseboards. His response was, “Man, you are a lot of work.”
Well, I am proving him wrong today. By some small miracle of weather patterns, it is snowing here in Southeast Texas. We are actually watching flurries of large flakes float down from the sky. I just bundled everyone up and I am fixin’ to go join them. We rarely get any of this winter precipitation, so I better go enjoy it while it lasts.
It is supposed to freeze hard tonight, down into the 20s. So we are covering the lime and orange trees. We are bringing in the coconut tree. We have a heat lamp in the chicken coop and hay in the rabbit hutches. The goats have a covered windbreak in which to stay. We have a stack of aged firewood waiting on the front porch. The fire is already roaring in the house. We are as ready as we will ever be.
I hope you have a great weekend. You can join my family in singing, “Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!”
