6 Advantages to Triple Degree Temperatures
We have been suffering with extreme heat and dry days in my neck of the woods. I saw this morning on the national news that New Jersey got significant snowfall earlier this week. Weather is amazing! Since we have just started our summer, I am a little worried how hot August is going to be. I kid you not, yesterday the car’s thermometer on the rear view window read 108 degrees. It was 4:12 in the afternoon! I don’t know what the official high was in our area yesterday, but I can assure you it was in the triple digits. Therefore, I wanted to come up with a list of advantages of this intense heat.
1. The clothes on your line dry in record time. In less than thirty minutes all of your clothes are dry. You can get many more loads of laundry done in a day’s time. This helps when you have a big family.
2. You get to eat chips and other salty foods without being nagged. My husband comes home with salt rings on his shirts because he sweats so much. He has to replace that salt, which he quite enjoys. He also eats bananas regularly to help him avoid charlie horses at night.

Isaac is catching some z's in the middle of the afternoon.
3. Nobody blames you when you take an afternoon siesta. Generally the hottest time of the day is between 2:00 and 4:00. This is the perfect time to come in and rest. Cool off in the air conditioning or shade. It is also a great time to make sure that you are rehydrating yourself with plenty of water and other liquids.
4. The kids don’t complain about having to take a bath/shower at night. Instead of trying to insist that they do not need a bath or shower, your kids are gladly cleaning up. There are few things as refreshing as a shower after a long, hot day.
5. Dinner is easier because no one wants to heat up the kitchen with the oven. Salads and other meals that require little to no cooking are popular during the summer heat waves. Grilling outside takes less time and charcoal. The heat from the sun aides the charcoal fire in grilling your meats and vegetables.
6. You watch less television in the evenings. I personally could live without a television. However when the sun starts fading away and the relatively cool evenings begin, we go outside to finish whatever needs to be done. We check on the animals, weed and pick the garden, weed eat the yard, build fence, etc. We try to work hard in the early morning and evening.
