7 Ways to Live Greener
Since I wouldn’t tell you to do something I won’t do myself, I want to suggest seven relatively easy ways to lives greener using the 5 R’s of Recycling.
Reduce your electric bill dramatically with the use of a clothesline. My summer utility bill alone is over a hundred dollars cheaper without using the dryer.
Reduce you waste by vermicomposting. Red wiggler worms turn paper, cardboard, fruit and vegetable scraps into great soil. It does not take up much room. For a year, I had a 5 gallon bucket in my kitchen and nobody knew worms were in there breaking everyday trash into dirt.
Reuse glass containers with lids to store your leftovers instead of plastic. You don’t have to worry about the glass leeching chemicals into your food either. I use half gallon mason jars in which to keep my goat milk.
Recycle your aluminum cans to the recycling center. You don’t have to spend time washing them or squashing them. Our center prefers the empty can. We made $47.00 on our cans in one trip.
Rethink the way you clean your house. Instead of using store-bought cleaning products full of toxic chemicals, make your own out of natural ingredients like baking soda, vinegar, and essential oils. Use a shammy to clean your windows, mirrors, and glass with water only. I will post some recipes soon.
Refuse to purchase and consume hormone and antibiotic-laden meat and animal products. Support ranches and farms that free-range and grassfed their animals. We raise our own eggs with free-range chickens and get our grassfed beef from Cross Creek Cattle Company.
Refuse to purchase and consume pesticide-laden produce at the market. Choose organic or raise your own. Not only are the produce and animal products healthier for you, but they are better for the environment.
See what you can do at home to leave a smaller, greener footprint here on Earth.

Hey, I just bought a bagless vacuum….does that count???
